October is National Principals Month! National Principals Month is a tribute to the pivotal role principals play in leading our schools and shaping the future of our students. It's no secret that principals are busy people, often wearing several different hats and working across many different areas of a school. Meet the Zebras of Team 7-2! Students in Mrs. Rentschler's Science class were learning about the parts of a cell. They were able to apply what they learned about the cell parts and functions as they designed their own cells!

It's National School Lunch Week! Schools across the country recognize the benefits of healthy school meals during the week of October 9-13, 2023. The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) has been fueling student achievement in and out of the classroom for more than 75 years. SFSD is lucky to have a highly dedicated staff of child nutritionists who make sure that all of our students are well nourished for a full day of learning. We appreciate the Cafe Crew at Patrick Henry and thank them for everything they do, this week and every week!
The Patrick Henry Panther Marching Band had a fantastic performance at the "Festival of Bands" in Sioux Falls on Saturday, October 7.

Getting a flu vaccine is a great way to protect yourself, your family, and your community from flu. The more people vaccinated; the more people protected. Patrick Henry will hold a FREE Flu Shot Clinic on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 8:30-9:30 AM for students. A signed consent form is required.
Happy National Coaches Day! "Coaches represent leadership, mentors, and inspiration. Often, a coach's words will echo through an athlete's mind for years to come. During difficult times, the words motivate them forward. Rarely do these coaches even know the impact they've had on an athlete until many decades pass. In an academic setting, coaches lead individuals and teams in speech, chess, drama, and many other types of competition." Picture Retake Day is Friday, October 6. If your student previously ordered pictures, they will need to return them on the day of retakes. We were blown away with the Coin War totals from last week! Our school raised a grand total of $859.07! 6th Grade was the winning grade collecting $751.27. Thank you for all donations that will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Patrick Henry Cares!
Today, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to the incredible custodial staff at Patrick Henry Middle School. Thank you for getting our school ready for visitors, for putting in the late hours, for always being willing to lend a helping hand, and most importantly, for caring for our students. Meet Team 6-3! Recently, a CPO with Orthotic and Prosthetic Specialties, shared how she uses the Design Process to develop AFOs (Ankle Foot Orthoses) for her patients. She answered questions and made a live cast of student's leg - just like she would if she were designing a real AFO! This was a great real-world experience for Team 6-3!
