Panther Preview Day (Open House)

Mark your calendars for Monday, August 22nd! All families (grades 6-8)  are invited to join us for our back-to-school event. During Panther Preview students will receive their new schedule, meet their teachers, find their locker, put money in their lunch accounts, find bus information, take their school photo (school picture day info below), order a yearbook, and more! Students should start in the main gym when they arrive to pick up their new schedule and take their photo.

Having your annual updates/online registration completed before you arrive will help speed up the process and avoid waiting in line.

Below are the recommended time frames to attend Panther Preview based on students last names:

6th – 8th Grade Student Last Names:

Last Names A – G:  1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Last Names H – N:  3:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Last Names O – Z:   5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

WEB Leaders and counselors will be available to give tours from 7:00-8:00 for new families.

School Supplies

The general middle school supply list for the SFSD, can be found on the SFSD webpage https://app.teacherlists.com/schools/58039-patrick-henry-middle-school

Special School Supply Notes

Three-ring binders: Please note, all students will need a three-ring zippered binder/trapper keeper to keep folders, notebooks, pens/pencils, and all other school supplies organized. In order to reduce clutter and extra unwanted items (food, snacks, toys, electronics, etc.) in classrooms, backpacks and coats will need to remain in lockers throughout the school day. Please contact the counseling office if your student will need assistance with acquiring the requested school supplies.

Water Bottles: water is an essential need that is available to students all day. We do encourage students to bring a water bottle with them to school to utilize the water bottle filling stations located throughout the building. In order to prevent spilling or squirting water, we ask that students do not bring a squeeze bottle to school. All water bottles without a squeezable top are permitted.

Bus Information

For families needing transportation, all bus information, including stops and routes can now be found on the Sioux Falls School District homepage: https://www.sf.k12.sd.us/page/busing-boundary-information

Bus information will also be available during Panther Preview. Please stop at the Bus table in the main gym for more information. Please note, all students will be given a student ID badge the first day of school. Students will need to scan their ID to get on the bus both before and after school each day. Replacement badges can be purchased for $5 from the office in the event a student loses their first one.

The “No Fundraiser, Fundraiser”

Each year PHMS PTO needs funds to operate and support the PHMS students and staff.  The all-school Panther Party, Kids Closet, Mentor Program, 8th Grade Party, Honors Assembly, Staff Appreciation and Conference Meals are some examples of the events or programs sponsored by the PTO. If each family donates $10 per student the PTO would be able to cover the cost of all activities listed above for the 2022-2023 school year without additional fundraising efforts. Please click on the Patrick Henry button to make your donation.

Thank you for your consideration and support of the PHMS staff and students!

We look forward to seeing returning families and meeting new ones on Monday!

Go Panthers!
